A culmination of the last few wonderful mid-range Nikon DSLR releases, the Nikon D7100 is exceptional in terms of its image quality and performance features, in terms of where it sits in the market. The 24.1 MP APS-C CMOS sensor in the D7100 produces excellent image quality that will please enthusiasts no end, with a high level of sharpness and detail owing to the lack of low-pass filter in the construction. The image quality of the D7100 is noteworthy for its consistency, producing pictures with noticeably less noise than some competitors, right up to its native ISO of 6400. This quality is also translated over to the videos, which can be captured in Full HD resolution.
One for the speed demons, the D7100 is capable of continuous shooting at up to 7 frames per second. Without a competent focus system such speeds would be useless but thankfully Nikon has not let you down here, its 51-point AF system delivering speedy and accurate performance, even in dimmer conditions where some lesser cameras would struggle. Sports and wildlife shooters will be pleased to note that the centre point of the AF system is a cross-type point, which basically enables you to utilise telephoto lenses and teleconverters with no dramas.
